3 mixed puppies running on side of the road

On my way to Greenville from Goldsboro around 1250 pm, there were 3 puppies (or small dogs) walking on the side of the road. There was an empty white trailer they were originally in front of, then they crossed the street and were going past another single trailer that is by a white church (Bethel United Methodist Church). They looked like they were mixed with Daschund, they had long bodies. One pup got separated crossing the street and the other two waited for it. They looked like siblings but all different colors (brown and tan). I pulled over and tried to catch them but they ran off through the field. I had to get to Greenville at a certain time, so I couldn’t continue chasing them.
