Bassist/guitarist forming 70s-90s alt. band

Description

Ok, so I’m gonna go out on a limb with this one. Lately, I’ve been to a few gigs where, out of the blue, the band plays something like Devo’s “Whip It,” or The Cure’s “Just Like Heaven,” and the crowd loves it! And the band just slips right back into classic rock, or some such. I stand there scratching my head, thinking, “Why isn’t anyone playing THAT stuff regularly?” Here’s my vision, if you’re thinking along those lines. I’m a bassist/guitarist looking to put together a band covering the music of the (hate to use this term for this scene, but) “classic” alternative era, meaning anything from the later 70s through the early 90s. Think Blondie, Iggy Pop, Gary Numan, AFOS, Psychedelic Furs, New Order, The Smiths/Morrissey, Missing Persons, Duran Duran, INXS, Stone Roses, Blur, Weezer….you get the idea. Ideally, need a guitarist/vocalist, keyboardist who can double on sax, drummer who has some electronics (and if you can play Adam & The Ants or Bow Wow Wow, I definitely wanna talk to you), and a singer who can double on keys or even bass, preferably female if possible, so we can do the stuff like Blondie, Missing Persons or maybe even Altered Images. I can sing, but I’m kinda challenged with playing at the same time, especially on bass, and I’m a baritone, which limits me to certain songs. If any of this resonates with you, drop me a note. Let’s make it happen. Please, with due respect, if you’re an established band looking to fill a need for something other than the above, pass me by. I’m on a mission.
