2023 Beekeeping Classes
Even if you have been keeping bees for years, a class can give you new ideas and new enthusiasm for the art and science of beekeeping. This Beginner Beekeeping Class will cover skills everyone uses every year, so you may want to try it out.
Class Dates: Five classes on Wednesday evenings in January and February 2023 1/25, 2/1, 2/8, 2/15, 2/22 plus a daytime, bee yard class TBA.
Topics Include: choosing equipment, building brood boxes, where to get bees, locating a place for your hives, bee biology, nectar plants, feeding, supering, swarming, fall management, preparing hives for winter, basic disease and pest ID and management, extracting honey, and how to use beeswax. This series is for people who range from just starting out to those who have had bees for years but are not confident with the bees, or are in a cycle of annual hive death.
Time and Location: Evening classes will be held from 6-8:45pm in the beautiful Powerhouse facility on the Roycroft Campus at 39 S. Grove St, East Aurora, NY 14052
. The final bee yard visit will be in the spring at a time and location to be announced.
There are two required textbooks: Students are responsible for purchasing their own books.
