Veteran Companion Animal Services Gives Rescue Dogs to Veterans.Informational meeting for veterans who are interested in receiving a rescue dog from Veteran Companion Animal Services (VCAS). VCAS is a non-profit which gives rescue dogs to veterans for companionship. VCAS covers the expenses of the adoption, food, supplies, veterinary care, and seven weeks of manners training during the first year. Those who attend this meeting will learn what is involved in VCAS' process of placing a dog with a veteran. Attendance at this meeting is required to receive a dog. Interested veterans do not need to register, just show up. Dog Supplies Delivered in Preparationfor the Veteran Receiving their Dog A few days prior to placement, a member of VCAS' Patriot Affairs team will drop off supplies including a crate, food, toys, etc. in preparation of the veteran receiving their dog.
Veterans and their Dogs attend Seven Weeks of TrainingBecoming a VCAS Alumni and Alumni EventsOnce the veteran and their dog have reached one year together, the veteran becomes one of our distinguished alumni. As a VCAS Alumni, the veteran is invited to attend quarterly social events. Previous Alumni events have been visits to Zoo Lights, Columbus Clippers, Crew, and Blue Jackets games.
