In June and July of 2022, Matt Randall visited Pakistan’s Karakoram mountains with friends Chris Kussmaul, Bill Copeland, and Jess Shade. They spent the first month exploring a very rarely visited area, managing to ski three previously unskied peaks and coming just a few hundred feet away from a 2nd ascent on a coveted peak. For their second month, they set their sights on a ski attempt of Gasherbrum II, the 13th tallest mountain in the world, in good style (without the use of fixed lines, supplemental oxygen, or Sherpa). Join us at Neptune Mountaineering on Thursday, February 16th at 6:30pm to see photos and videos recounting this adventure.
Matt Randall is 30 years old and was born/raised in Brighton, Colo. Until 2021, he lived along the front range when he moved to Salt Lake City, Utah. Despite growing up in Colorado, he never experienced the mountains until the ripe age of 23, but immediately fell in love with skiing, and more specifically, climbing and skiing peaks: Ski Mountaineering. Since then, he has been fortunate to visit Mexico, Alaska, Nepal, and Pakistan (2x) in the pursuit of his newfound passion. His latest trip to Pakistan brought him to a remote area of Pakistan and also to one of the tallest peaks in the world.
