Description

Woodpeckers are more fascinating than you might think! NHG welcomes back Carolyn Oldham and Jerri Kerr to present more on our native birds. With over 20 species that can be seen in North America, Texas has its own native woodpeckers, each with their own unique features and habitats- and you may be surprised at how valuable they are to our individual landscapes and the DFW metroplex as a whole. In this free presentation, learn more about these unique, often overlooked birds, and how they impact anyone who loves our trees.  Carolyn Oldham has been in the gardening business since 1993, including working 10 years at North Haven Gardens and owning her own landscape company, Natural Habitats for the past 15 years. She enjoys tennis, gardening, and of course, birdwatching, with a lifetime goal to plant every plant and see every bird! Along with co-presenter and friend Jerri, she is a member of the Prairie and Timbers Chapter of the National Audubon Society.  Support the wonderful work being done by Audubon Texas not just for woodpeckers, but much, much more.  Red-Bellied Woodpecker photo courtesy Dale Clark.
