Description

Hello! I’m forming a group for writers, and looking for members to join. All kinds of creative writers are welcome. We’ll meet once a week on Tuesday or Thursday nights from around 6:15 - 7:45pm, depending on what works best for the group. Whether you’re working on a long-term writing project like a screenplay or novel, or more brief pieces like poems or short stories, this group will provide you with the feedback, motivation, deadlines, and inspiration you need to develop your practice. Session Structure: Every Sunday evening, we will each share a PDF of a finished written piece (or progress on a long-form piece) to our email group. We will read one another’s pieces, and prepare a few points of both positive and constructive feedback for our upcoming, in-person session. For the first fifteen minutes of our in-person session, we will write based on a set prompt or question. We’ll then go around and share a snippet of our passages. Next, we will take turns reading a snippet from our emailed pieces aloud. We will then go around and share our prepared feedback. The overall objective of the class is to form a small community of writers seeking the time, space, and gentle encouragement necessary to be creatively productive. Personally, I love to write, but find that I struggle to be productive without deadlines or other creatives with whom to exchange ideas. Additionally, I’m hoping to help both other writers and myself to develop the bravery to openly share creative work, gracefully take criticism, and improve. If you’re interested, please send me an email with two samples of your writing (brief is fine), and a sentence or two introducing yourself. Please share this posting with others who may also be interested! If the days or times don’t work for you, don’t hesitate to reach out and communicate your availability. I’m open to moving sessions around. Thank you! :)
