Michigan Supreme Court Justice Kyra Harris Bolden hired an ex-con (Pete Martel) as an aide, something admirable actually. He was not one of the "unpardonable sinners" (sex offenders or otherwise abusers of children.) He didn't even murder anyone, rape or other crimes of violence. He was charged with shooting at police, which may, or may not be an accurate depiction of his crime. Certainly a gun was involved. He served his time without incident, and has since obtained a law degree from Wayne State University. Justice Bernstein got a bur under his saddle, and through his efforts got a man (who by all our ways to determine rehabilitation had succeeded,) sacked. I voted for you, Mr. Bernstein, because your campaigning suggested you believe in liberal ethics. Denying someone of a second chance, and personal vendettas are NOT liberal ethics, however. What you did to a man just trying to get by in life, and demonstrate he has changed, makes me question my vote. Shame! If there is something I am not seeing here, I appreciate any and all feedback.
