Description

Beauden and his family’s lives changed forever on 9/20/22. After a month of misdiagnosis and medical issues with Beauden, they were alerted after having labs drawn that his hemoglobin was critical. A normal hemoglobin for children is between 12-13; his is at a 5. After receiving this news, Beauden and his family found a sitter for their two other children, packed some necessities, and took him to Lurie's children's hospital in Chicago. They were blindsided when the doctor announced their son had Leukemia (ALL). It's like they couldn't catch their breath… The pain and devastation of knowing their child had something that can be fatal but also life-altering… is more than they thought they could bear. From that point on, Beauden received 2 blood transfusions and surgery to place a port in the right side of his chest that goes directly to his heart. He also had a lower lumbar puncture with his first round of chemotherapy that went directly into his spine, and finally, he had a bone marrow biopsy performed on his right hip. They stayed a week in the hospital while Beau continued to receive chemo and multiple medications. Beauden is strong, and he has been resilient despite what he's had to endure. We are reaching out to the community, friends, and family for help. Billy has had to take an extended leave of absence, which is unpaid. They have a plethora of upcoming costs for treatments, travel, and medications. They would be forever grateful if you feel it in your hearts to donate anything to help them in their time of need. We know that Beauden's road to recovery is going to be a long one. Three years is how long we are looking at for his chemo treatments as long as his body is responding well. He will be back in for surgery at the end of October, and visits are weekly.
