One fateful afternoon, he crossed paths with a talented vintner, dedicated to perfecting his art. Delighted, the new companions dreamt of possibility: a collaboration that honored the spirit of the wines themselves. Their brotherhood forged in the fields, they gratefully picked each grape, creating each wine with intention. Undeterred by the sweat on their backs, they ensured each batch was crafted with integrity, every note thought through. For they knew each wine had a story to tell; it just needed a pair of interpreters. The wine whispered to them as it was liberated from its barrels, poured generously into bottles, into your hands. They listened for its story — can you hear it? ABOUT the BRAND The Fableist is a collaboration between winemakers Curt Schalchlin and Andrew Jones. Curt, owner and vintner of the heralded winery, Sans Liege, is known for his critically acclaimed Rhone varietals. Andrew, winemaker of Field Recordings spends his days planning and planting vineyards and has stood foot in just about every vineyard on the Central Coast. Together, they produce The Fableist, a collaboration that gives special attention to the craft and story behind each wine. The INSPIRATION Each bottle has been artfully designed and inspired by one of Aesop’s many fables. Just as each of his timeless vignettes has a moral, we believe that every blend has its own story to tell, its own lessons to teach. There’s something profound about wine; it can inspire, bring loved ones together, fill hearts with warmth. As you enjoy each glass, we hope these stories spark a desire to ponder what really matters in life — and may they encourage you to find the wisdom within yourself. The Wines We Will Be Featuring & Tasting: Chardonnay, Edna Valley Fable 163 Float back to your youthful summers: Welcome the comforting aromas of ripe peach, ricotta and graham crackers, feel this fresh mid palate roll into a bright finish. Like us, this wine is young and energetic, but still respects the classics. Pinot Noir, Santa Barbara County Fable 774 Bold, fresh cranberries and raspberries float on your palate, brought back to earth by gentle nutmeg, clove and just a hint of mushroom. Brings you back to days spent basking in the Central Coast sunlight. Zinfandel, Central Coast Fable 206 Cozy as a Christmas fire, cranberry and rhubarb dance on the plate as you’re filled with the warmth of pie spice, followed by a silky finish. You can practically hear the crackling flames with this Old Vine Zinfandel. Tempranillo, Central Coast Fable 067 Loaded with blueberries, black currant and dark chocolate.
