Description
Join us for a bike and/or hike through the site of the future Puente Hills Landfill Park! The Puente Hills Landfill, one of America’s largest landfills, is going through a historic transformation into Los Angeles County’s first new regional park in over thirty years! The park will be the future home to new habitats, natural lands, trails, and community gathering spaces. Join Active SGV and the project design team on a multimodal trip to and around the site to discuss access and other ideas for the future park. On Saturday, January 21, we will host a bike and hike to the site of the future Puente Hills Landfill Park. The bike ride will start at South El Monte City Hall at 8:30 am and head to the park, where we will hike to the top of Nike Hill. After the hike, we will return to South El Monte City Hall, where the event will conclude. Pre-registration is required. Options are available for the bike and hike, or the hike only. As of January 5, all GoSGV electric bikes are fully reserved. If you are joining for the hike only: Please note that the hike will start at the trailhead on Workman Mill Rd once the bike group arrives around 9:20 AM.
