AMP-RI presents... WJAR Studio Tour Ever wonder what a busy broadcast newsroom looks like? How the news is produced behind-the-scenes? Join us as Artie Tefft, Assignment Editor, takes us on a tour around the broadcast newsroom to see WJAR's high tech TV studio. About The CompanyWJAR is a RI based station and a NBC Television affiliate owned and operated by Sinclair Broadcast Group. Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc. is one of the largest and most diversified television broadcasting companies in the country today. Sinclair owns and operates, programs or provides sales services to 163 television stations in 77 markets, after pending transactions. Sinclair's television group reaches approximately 38.7% of US television households and includes FOX, ABC, MyTV, CW, CBS, NBC, Univision and Azteca affiliates. Community Involvement: The owner and Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc. continue to broaden its recruiting outreach by effectively establishing communication with recruiting resources in the broadcasting community, professional organizations, community based organizations and outreach through our corporate and local station job opportunities websites. Examples of the efforts made by stations in this employment unit include an ongoing internship program with regional colleges and high schools. Our department managers attend job fairs at local and regional colleges in an effort to recruit candidates with an interest in a broadcast related field. We have also had numerous local schools come to our station for tours, and our news staff has gone directly to schools to speak to them about careers in Broadcasting. In addition, our station participates in high school career workshops that introduce broadcasting careers to high school and middle school students. FAQsDo I have to bring my printed ticket to the event? If you pay at least 24-hours in advanced, no. We will keep a record of those who purchased a ticket at the door and confirm your payment then. Can you tell me a little more about what to expect? Sure! We meet for about two hours, but follow a typical flow: between 5:30 - 6:10 people arrive, grab some appetizers, and network with others; from here, our guest speaker will present and take questions until about 7pm. At this point of the night, our program is complete, but you are welcome to stay and chat longer, or spend time at the restaurant or bar as much of the crowd will do. How does AMP-RI membership work? Annual members pay a single, $60 fee for the year and attend all events free! That's a great value financially.
