Description
Hi all, Thanks for your interest. My name is Atlas, I'm a 29 y/o multi-instrumentalist/producer living in Bed Stuy. I play keys, guitar, bass, sing, and slap drums a little bit. Over the last few years, I've been working on a project I call kromacult. It's a labor of love, born of the covid pandemic. I've made dozens upon dozens of songs, of which I have about 10 fully-developed tracks (with ~40 more demos/song starters in the back pocket). I'm ready to find some core collaborators who want to commit their time to the band, help realize a vision, and contribute their own voices and ideas! Some of my main influences are: Temples, Tame Impala, Mild High Club, Jungle, Radiohead, Pink Floyd, King Crimson, The Doors, Arctic Monkeys, Hers, Mac Demarco. If you want to check some of the demos I'm working on: kromacult on soundcloud. All tracks are works in progress. mixes are not done, there are plenty of parts that need to be re-recorded for the final versions, including most of the vocals. I recorded/played/wrote everything. The aural aesthetic of kromacult is dystopian, dancy, hypnotic, sticky, harmonically-rich, groove-oriented, melodic, colorful, and dark. The conceptual piece of kromacult is another important facet of the band, and something that is almost inextricable from the music itself. There are many references to the "kromacult", a made-up cabal of nefarious color-wielding cultists. It is an almost satirical critique of cults/theology/religion/herd mentality. This theme is carried through the song lyrics/titles, visuals, as well as the 4th-wall-breaking notion that the band is the cult itself and they are beckoning the audience to join them. We are currently a three-piece: (1) myself, a singer and multi-instrumentalist, (2) a bassist, and (3) a female singer and keyboardist/guitarist We are looking for a drummer, guitarist, and synth players to join in our band. Ideally, you have innate grove and you want to make cool tunes, have a generally cool time, hop on a record, practice a set, play out live, ya know- band shit :). We are looking for properly committed individuals. We want to create a VISION and foster a truly egalitarian band where everyone can contribute their ideas and express themselves. I'd love to start playing out as soon as possible, so after the debut record is finalized, I'd love to start getting a set list under the belt and practicing. Ideally, all future song-writing would be truly collaborative efforts between all parties, not just myself. For the debut, there is plenty of opportunity to jump in and add your ideas to a record whose foundations are mostly there already! I have had some poor experiences with prospective craigslist "bandmates" in the recent past, so I would love to kind of just hang and vibe and make tunes until determinations on membership can be reached :) Looking forward to hearing from you, talking inspirations, and seeing what happens. If you have any past work you can send along, that would be much appreciated! Atlas
