Description
WHO Adventurous women* age 18+ who love rollerskating, fun & fitness! *see gender policy below WHAT Skate Lab by Derby Skate Club is a weekly class/skate party that includes a magical mix of open skate, roller dance, roller derby and basic skating drills as well as any new experiments we come up with - all in the name of having a blast on roller skates! Unlike Derby Skate Club's history of structured, progressive weekly curricula, the format of this experience is fluid. I DON'T KNOW HOW TO ROLLER DANCE AND I HAVE NEVER PLAYED ROLLER DERBY. WILL YOU BE TEACHING LESSONS? We do not teach lessons in Skate Lab - rather, we offer various segments & activities for all skill levels and invite you to give it a try - or not! Everything we do in Skate Lab is completely optional. Head over to the practice area, take a break, use the restroom or just watch - open skate segments are sprinkled all through each night so you know you'll be back in action in a few minutes no matter what! DO I NEED TO BE GOOD AT ROLLER SKATING? WHAT SKILLS ARE REQUIRED TO JOIN? Performance and skill level are not important to us - safety is. To that end and to ensure you enjoy Skate Lab, basic roller skating skills are required: Ability to confidently stand, stride and stop on roller skatesAbility to navigate turns with controlAbility to skate in (semi) close proximity with others with comfort and controlWHERE Happy Wheels Skate Center, 3 Chabot Street, Westbrook ME WHEN SKATE LAB WEEKLY CLASSES: Thursday evenings beginning 1/12/23* 8 class session 5:30-7:30 pm $144 *no class February 23.
