Listening-Leadership leads to a happy and healthy work culture where understanding, empowerment, trust, collaboration, deep engagement, a sense of belonging, and creative productivity are the norm. Paula Sentovich will lead a two-part workshop to sharpen your listening skills in both theory and practice. After learning effective listening skills and how it can be best applied to nonprofit leadership, you will have the opportunity to practice these skills in small groups. This workshop builds your power to transform your work culture! Listening is part of our DNA; on any given day, we listen more than we speak. Although we expect excellence in listening, we often neglect the challenge to hone the critical listening skills that could drive our Listening-Leadership to the next level. Sharpening your Listening-Leadership skill set will empower you to build a culture of collaboration and trust with your colleagues and constituents. Learn how to listen deeply, remain focused and engaged, and respond to the perspective of another person while becoming a more powerful force for Listening-Leadership. Your team members want to be empowered; A recent study found that feeling heard and understood is what most happy employees desire in their workplace. Giving team members a voice doesn’t always mean they will feel understood; Learn critical skills to coach your nonprofit team and implement the platform, tools, and skills to be effective Listening-Leaders in the workplace, on social media, at home, and beyond. Facilitator: Paula Sentovich is a seasoned Listening-Leadership(c) educator and coach. During her high school years she attended an intensive, week-long, college-level listening course where her deep love for listening was launched. This life-changing experience led to Paula becoming a Counseling-Learning Institutes Associate and presenter of listening workshops throughout the Midwest. Nonprofit work is fundamentally about building relationships, connections, and collaborations. Paula is a veteran in teaching the art of listening which has laid an unshakable foundation for her career in community engagement. Although Paula spent many years as a secondary education instructor, she has a special love and respect for the adult learner. She hails from Rockford, IL, has a bachelor’s degree in Education from Loras College, and completed her graduate studies in Theology at Franciscan University of Steubenville. Fun fact: Paula has a “three degrees of separation” connection to Dr. Carl Rogers (1902-87), professor of Clinical Psychology at The Ohio State University, who mentored the developer of Counseling-Learning Institutes and her mentor.
