Each year, United Way honors the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., by organizing service projects for Charlotte-area volunteers around the holiday that bears his name. These projects not only deliver valuable assistance to nonprofit organizations, schools and other service providers, but also allow participants to begin the New Year by reflecting on the meaning of Dr. King’s life of service. For 2023, our MLK Call to Service Event will take place at Northside Baptist Church (333 Jeremiah Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28262), where volunteers will be helping to fill snack packs to be distributed to afterschool programs supported by United Way.
