Each year during the Venice Holocaust Education Week, Chabad of Venice honors a speaker with the opportunity to share their experiences: of the tribulations of the past, of the threats posed by anti-semitism, and of the unbreakable will of the Jewish nation.
This year the city of Venice is honoring Helga Melmed, one of the few remaining Auschwitz survivors. Helga’s story has already touched thousands of lives across the world. Now, the larger Sarasota community is invited to an inspiring discussion with her, taking place Thursday, February 16th at 10:30 am in the Venice Community Center.
Whereas many people may have heard of the travesties of the war; hearing them told over by a survivor leaves a permanent impression. Today, with anti-semitism on the rise, there is a greater need for Helga’s message than perhaps ever before.
Proceeds will benefit the Chabad Youth Scholarship Fund
