Description
We need to try to find a good home for our 2 year old female bluetick coonhound, Bailey. We got her as a puppy and never had any problems with her until our son started to toddle around. Since then it’s became very apparent that she didn’t like him much. We tried everything we could to try to get her to warm up to him but nothing seemed to help. She even started to get “grumpy” with our older daughter who is almost 7. After an incident tonight where she bite our almost 2 year old son as he was just simply walking past her as she layed on the couch we can no longer find it in us to continue to try to work with her on this problem and have come to the conclusion to just rehome her. The bite wasn’t very severe but was definitely enough for us to make this decision soundly. We really hate doing this because she is a great dog and is great with adults and quickly warms up to strangers but I feel at this point that she just doesn’t do well with children. We have young children and like I said after her incident with our youngest we just don’t find it safe for them or for her to continue to keep her. She has a lot of personality and is quite vocal as this breed usually is. She has lots of energy but also loves to just nap on the couch. She is very food driven so more extensive training wouldn’t be very difficult I think, she is potty trained and knows basic commands like sit, stay, and leave it. She has always been a bit territorial with food so we have always tried feeding her away from little hands and the other animals we have. She will need her yearly shots, we got sick around her appointment and after canceling it with the intentions of rescheduling life got crazy for us and it got put off. Her birthday is in November and we estimate her to be around 50 pounds and she is intact. Please message me for inquiries or questions, we would love for her to go somewhere with a fenced in yard and no young children due to her obvious dislike for them. She located in Oskaloosa, Ks and we’re asking for a $50 rehoming fee to make sure she goes to a good home.
