Founded in 1902, Winchester Country Club remains one of the premier courses in the state. Featuring views of both the Mystic Lakes and the Boston skyline, the Donald Ross layout remains intact, most notable about this parcel of land is its substantial elevation change. From the low point near the first tee to the course’s peak at the 13th green, there is a 165-foot differential, and with help from Ron Forse Golf Design most recently, providing both challenge and enjoyment for its members and their guests. Winchester has hosted seven Massachusetts Amateur championships and two state opens in addition to other state and regional tournaments. Winchester CC is set to host the Massachusetts Amateur in 2026. However, its best-known contribution to Massachusetts golf is its annual father & son tournament, the longest running such event in the country. First held in 1919, as sons and fathers returned from World War I, the invitational tournament quickly became a mainstay in Massachusetts golf. The club feature’s an 18 hole golf course, 6 hole short course, Driving range and Learning facility, as well as the Main Clubhouse, Pool, Tennis Courts, Paddle courts and a fitness center. All of the outdoor grounds are maintained and managed by the Grounds Department here at the club. Job Details & Description: Responsibilities: -Operates, maintains and repairs the Toro Lynx irrigation system. -Repair leaks on the Golf Course, Driving Range/Short course facility and Clubhouse grounds. -Report any major issues to Superintendent and Assistants. -Electrical troubleshooting. -Maintains working knowledge of pump station maintenance requirements. -Determines wet and dry areas for adjustments of sprinkler heads. -Troubleshoot communication issues with satellites. -Manage inventories and stocks all irrigation parts and tools in order to minimize down time. -Prioritizes irrigation breaks and uses time efficiently. -Responsible for winterization and blowout of irrigation system, including all water lines, valves, landscape beds, tennis courts, and pump stations. -Performs other golf course maintenance tasks as required. Irrigation system: -Full HDPE piping. -Toro flex series, Toro infinity series, hunter heads. -Toro Lynx software. -Watertronics pump station. Requirements: -Irrigation and golf course experience preferable, but willing to train the right candidate.
