Need a night of creative, slightly introspective fun this winter? An evening out of the house, with a friend perhaps...an evening with beautiful flowers and interesting foliage? An evening to stretch (or flex, haha!) your skills, maybe venture out of your comfort zone...and learn about watercolor painting? Join me in my flower shop for an evening with flowers, paint, poetry and yes, wine! This event includes these activities (no experience needed for any part): 1. Flower arranging - We will design a sweet, exquisite arrangement with fresh, bold-colored, unique flowers. Flowers bring me so much joy and I want to share how I highlight them in an arrangement. You will learn about the flowers we use and where they are grown, as well as basic floral design and color theory. 2. Painting - Next, we will paint our florals! Join local artist, Martina Sestakova to learn basic watercolor techniques and sketch and paint from the floral still life you have created. We will also explore how poetry by Mary Oliver, Annie Dillard and Diane Ackerman, may be tied to our understanding of nature, art, and ourselves. Join us for an evening of creativity and discovery. You will create a few masterpieces in one evening to take home with you! This workshop is also perfect for this coming Valentine's Day: you will be able to use your own artworks in one-of-a-kind greeting cards. Prosecco and/or wine may be involved in the creation of a truly memorable experience! The Kentlands offers places to grab dinner before this activity: come with a friend and/or family member(s). Become friends with strangers! Flower arranging and watercolor painting with a glass (or two!) of wine and snacks...what could be better on a cold winter night??? We will bring out the artist in you! (see student work below) **All supplies provided and yours to keep...just bring yourself and your curious self!** Clippers belong to the shop and must stay on site.
