STRATFORD, CT — Stratford students won't be back in the classroom until Jan. 19 at the earliest, but the school district has reported numerous post-holiday coronavirus cases within school communities since teachers and students returned Monday to online-only learning. Officials disclosed 31 cases within 10 Stratford school communities the first week after break, but with students learning remotely, the number of people required to quarantine due to close contact was low as the week drew to a close. The following cases were reported to parents and staff via email: Stratford High School, 4Bunnell High School, 3Wooster Middle School, 2Flood Middle School, 1Johnson House Elementary School, 9Chapel Elementary School, 4Victoria Soto Elementary School, 3Eli Whitney Elementary School, 2Second Hill Lane Elementary School, 2Wilcoxson Elementary School, 1 District-wide as of early Sunday, 17 students and 12 staff members were in isolation with the virus, and 25 students and staffers were quarantined, compared to the 290 quarantined Dec. 23, the day before the start of the holiday break, according to the district dashboard, which reflects the most current available numbers.
