Rehoming our 4yr old macaw. We purchased him for 4K back in the summer from a rescuer. His name is Yeager. At some point in his life, he plucked his feathers but since being with us, they have started growing back. Full disclosure - he HATES women & children. He only allows men to hold him & will tolerate the wife on occasion. Our 14yr old son is his main caregiver. He talks & communicates on a normal basis. He says hi, hello, uh uh, no, pecker head.. can shake his head yes & no.. loves to dance to music. He will come with his cage although we try not to keep him locked up, he’s happiest when he can stand on the door or the perch up top. He’s quiet at night & easy to care for. He loves peanuts & sunflower seeds. He loves my husband & enjoys boat rides, lawn mower rides & just sitting on his shoulder. We had hoped he’d adjust to me (wife) & kids but 6mo in & he’s still the same jerk to me. He was bought for me & im unable to get too close to him. Our loss is your gain, as we just want him to go to a home where he can be comfortable & loved. There is a substantially reduced rehoming fee.
