Description

For nearly 40 years, two- time GRAMMY award winning Terrance Simien and 8th generation Louisiana Creole, has been shattering the myths about what his indigenous Zydeco roots music is – and is not. Celebrate with the Cape May Jazz Festival Foundation as we present American roots music, born of the black and mixed race French speaking Creoles of South Louisiana. Simien leads a massively skilled Zydeco Experience band with long time member and creative collaborator Danny Williams (30+ years, two-GRAMMY award winning), keyboards; Stan Chambers (10+ years, GRAMMY award winning), bass; Ian Molinaro – Thompson, drums; and our newest members, Revon Andrews, trombone and Orlando Gilbert, saxophone. The mission of the Cape May Jazz Festival Foundation is to foster an appreciation for, cultivate the discovery of, and celebrate and expand the legacy of jazz, blues and folk music through the presentation of festivals and educational and cultural initiatives. Terrance Simien's appearance is supported in part through a grant from the Mid Atlantic Foundation for the Arts. ArtsCONNECT supports touring projects collaboratively developed by presenters working together in the mid-Atlantic region. The tours include performances as well as complementary engagement activities designed to create greater understanding or connections between artists, audiences, and communities.
