Description
Hello world, The Pocket, a hip music venue in DC invited me to host a Masterclass at their venue. This will be the inaugural session in a new series they are promoting. It's free but an RSVP is required, https://www.thepocketdc.com/events/pbu3vj7pg3frzq4ehr63htuwspm7vg January 9th Bar opens at 7 Class starts at 7:30 I have been teaching professionally for 17 years at local music shops such as Foxes Music in Falls Church, Perfect Pointe in Springfield, Maley's Music in McLean and Arlington, Bach to Rock in Lansdowne and just started teaching at ROAM in Del Ray. I operate Double Sharp Audio, a recording studio in the heart of Del Ray, Alexandria (DoubleSharpAudio.com). I have had many great teachers including, Anthony Pirog (Messthetics), Joe Lally (Messthetics, Fugazi, Corkiy) Rick Whitehead (USAF Airmen of Note, professor at Mason and Shenandoah U), Buster Williams (bassist for Herbie Hancock, Larry Coryell etc.), Rufus Reid (Kenny Burrell, Stan Getz, Eddie Harris etc.), Steve Novosel (Red Norvo, Charlie Byrd etc.) as well as many local music teachers and coworkers. I'm happy to share many of the hard learned lessons I have learned for free. My band, Swingamajig will be playing some songs and discussing our experiences and approaches to soloing and improvisation. You'll hear from an experienced drummer and bassist as well. Something for everyone. -Swingamajig Bio- Kent Stacks (Scream, The Suspects), John Previti (Danny Gatton, Paul Simon, Les Paul, Herb Ellis) and music teacher and engineer, Wilfredo Morales (Double Sharp Audio) have teamed up to write music as only BFF's can. With over a hundred years of combined musical experience on the stage, Swingamajig enjoys making RnB infused Rock with a twist of Jazz improv. The boys improvise and react to each other's shenanigans on the fly. They'll rampage through songs and into your heart with an upcoming CD release from DSI Archives. Here's a link to hear a song we wrote for New Years. Happy New Year, everyone. https://swingamajig.bandcamp.com/track/new-years-day
