Description

I've spent a bunch of time in bands playing music I wasn't excited about, and now I want to start something totally different from scratch. Ideally, I’d like to piece together a group of 3-4 multi-instrumentalists between the ages of 23 and 40 that are into books and art and want to do something unique without being super self-serious about it. I'd like to use modern instrumentation in a way that almost feels more like a chamber ensemble than a rock band. Much more interested in making something exciting and interesting than playing live, but not ultimately opposed to it. Likewise, I'd much rather play with smart, interesting, like-minded people that are excited about music than a bunch of virtuosos. So technical talent isn't necessarily my first priority. I’m somewhat open-minded as far as direction, but this is kind of the palette I’m imagining: Open-tuned Acoustic guitar Processed electric guitar Acoustic Piano & Rhodes Synthesizers and tape collage (Would also be really interested in cello, viola, and other instruments less common in a traditional “rock” setting) William Tyler, John Fahey, The Velvet Underground, Claude Debussy, Terry Riley, Steve Reich, Alice Coltrane, Brian Eno, J Dilla, the sounds in the background of Yankee Hotel Foxtrot If this sounds like something you'd be into, feel free to shoot me an email, and I'd love to try something out or meet up to share ideas.
