Community of Hope is hosting a screening and panel discussion about Birthing Justice, a Women In The Room Production documentary that tells the story of the crisis faced by Black mothers and their children and the solutions needed to transform the maternal care system. The film features four areas in the country, including Washington, DC and Community of Hope. When: Sunday, January 22, 2023 from 1PM to 4PM Where: Trinity Washington University | O’Connor Auditorium | 125 Michigan Ave NE, Washington, DC 20017 This free community event will begin with the documentary screening of Birthing Justice, followed by an informative panel discussion and reception with light refreshments. Special gifts for expecting and new parents will be available on a first come, first served basis. The community screening and panel is a chance to bring together local leaders to discuss health, pregnancy, equity, and justice. Speakers include Monique N. Matthews, film director; Community of Hope’s Director of Midwifery, Ebony Marcelle; and Abayea Pelt, Senior Director of Maternal and Child Health—who are both featured in the documentary. This event is sponsored by the Fund II Foundation as part of their deep commitment to advance social change and create an enduring American legacy. The venue requires that all campus guests be vaccinated against COVID-19. Masks are required for entering the facility. Free parking is available along Michigan Ave, the circle drive near the Main Hall, and campus parking lots. Join us for a day of learning, support, and hope!
