The first half of the program includes Adoration by Florence Price who made history as the first female Black composer to have a symphony performed by a major US orchestra. You'll also hear Festival of Whispers composed by Matthew Burtner, an Alaskan-born composer, whose works bring performers into interactive relationships with the environment through the use of musical ecoacoustics, a field he pioneered in the 1990s. The concert concludes with Aaron Copland's Appalachian Spring which has achieved enduring popularity and was created upon commission of the choreographer and dancer Martha Graham.
This program will be conducted by Kim Allen Kluge, a finalist for the LSO conductor position.
Doors open at 7 PM and seating is open.
