Description
This is Indy, a roughly 12month old female pit mix my family has been caring for since about may of last year. She was previously a family members dog, but due to a cancer diagnosis and rapidly deteriorating health they began having trouble caring for her. Their only option was to surrender her to a local shelter, where she would have likely been put down eventually. Rather than having her surrendered to a kill shelter in the area, we volunteered to take her in.
For the first few months all was well, we have an older pit mix rescue that is about 6. They got along great. That is until, Indy became larger than our older dog. Around then our older dog began showing aggression towards her and despite our best efforts, we cannot get them to get along. The blame is entirely with our older dog that is extremely protective of our kids. Indy still attempts to be friendly with the older dog, but she wants nothing to do with her.
We are having to keep them separated 100% of the time and it’s not fair to either dog at this point to have to stay in a crate so the other can be out. My wife and I are doing our best, but we cannot make it work not matter what we do. And at this point it’s just not safe for her if something ever happens and both dogs end up out together.
Indy is up to date on her shots, but is NOT fixed. She is friendly after she gets to meet someone, and she is still friendly towards our current dog when they go up to each others cage when one is out and really just wants to play. Indy has never shown any aggression while we have had her towards my wife and I or our 3 kids aged 8,4&2.
We are looking for a small rehoming fee of around $100 just to make sure she ends up in a great home.
Serious inquires only as this is very important to not just our family, but our extended family that she came from as well.
