Description

This dog is around 40 lbs and almost a year and half years old (breed is expected to live 12-16 yrs). She is of a “wash and wear” short coat that should only shed once hot weather gets here—a few baths and brushing during that time helps if you have dark furniture. She is uptodate on shots and tests negative for heartworm. She enjoys being close to her human but is independent at times. She is eager to please in learning new command words. Reward based training, for pets or treats, seems to work for her and also make her happy. Bonding takes time and trust is gained over time as with any dog. She is cautious in any new situation, but is friendly with news dogs out on walks. She might be an escape artist, so leaving her in a fenced in backyard unattended might not be good. She walks well on a leash but is unaware of traffic and lights–she will need her human to be patient at first but will stay close on leash once established in walk. An ideal walk for her would be a mile and this seems to help her relax once back home. She is good to puff bark at alarm of someone outside house but is quick to quiet upon reassurance of her human. She has been a polite house guest but does test boundaries set for her (e.g. going into kitchen or begging for table-scraps). She has not been left alone for any a stretch of time at current foster home (presently, we are working with this dog to be in a quieter environment than the pound, during her training). This dog would be an excellent companion for a person who is on the trail/sidewalks nearly daily or probably for a grown young child (7+) that is a all-dog’s-matter enthusiast. Trainable, Meek, Affectionate, Low maintenance Dog needs a good home to become the great dog she is meant to be. White coat with dark/Blue spots, short and narrow stature (stands at just below the knee of petite adult human), pointy nose, half flopped ears, short-haired fluffy tail. Female dog needs her forever home.
