11am Choral Eucharist at St John's (218 West 11th Street) 12.45pm Blessing of the Waters at the end of Pier 46 1.15pm Lunch at Malatesta (corner of Washington and Christopher Streets) The Choral Eucharist, sung by St John's professional choir, features music appropriate for the Baptism of Our Lord. Following the Eucharist we move informally to the end of Pier 46 where, at 12.45pm we have the Blessing of the Waters (also sung by the choir) with the casting of the cross into the Hudson, the release of the white dove, and appropriate prayers and thanksgivings. Following the Blessing of the Waters we move to Malatesta, an Italian trattoria on the corner of Christopher and Hudson Streets, for a simple lunch ($5) of either salad or pasta (wines are provided). It is essential to book ($5) here for the lunch as space is limited.
