Description

This is a moderate, 2 1/2 hour hike that involves going off trail occasionally. It starts from the Cabelands parking lot. The hike includes the Eno Quarry, Cabe Mill, Cabe Homesite, Zener Overlook, Sparger Hunting Lodge, and Cabe Cemetery. The geological history and human history of the area will be discussed. Directions: Meet in the Cabelands parking lot, at the end of Howe Street, off of Sparger Road in Durham (4950 Howe Street, Durham NC, 27705) This hike will take approximately two hours (sometimes less, sometimes more). Please feel free to bring water and snacks. Wear comfortable, weather appropriate clothing and shoes. Well-behaved dogs are welcome as long as they are under your control and on a 6 foot leash. COVID-19 guidelines: As this is an outdoor event, masks and vaccination status are not required to attend. Please practice social distancing to keep yourself and others outside of your group safe and healthy.
