Description
Hello parents- I am hoping to gauge local community interest for a micro homeschool group. My own child attends BA and with all the bullying, excessive computer time verses actual learning time and for many other reasons, we have decided to homeschool our child. The more I read about it, I feel like it’s a practice and mindset that other families will gravitate towards. Nothing really exists in the current shape of the program now. So I thought I’d reach out on Craigslist and see if there were other families struggling to send their children to traditional schools and not wanting more of the same, in private school setting either. The learning style blends all the best features of Waldorf, Montessori, and Emilio Reggio plus the benefits and comforts of a small school setting focusing on whole person learning and fostering a love for life long learning. Children will be encouraged to scope their educational activities with all the important core materials covered. Records and attendance policies allow families to travel, pause and accelerate learning based on the student and family needs. Field trips, college discussions and tours, team and individual projects, graduation ceremonies, yearly portfolio to monitor progress, service projects, gifted support and so much are on our calendar of growth. The schedule is shaping up to be a couple days a week from 9-3:00ish for elementary aged students. Tuition will probably land around 4-5k per year depending on 2 or 3 days of attendance. M/W/F and T/Thur or something similar. Tuition includes a third trimester over the summer to reduce learning loss and allow for generous holiday breaks throughout the year to spend time with families, reflect and recharge. We would consider 1 or 2 students at the start with the max of 6 just to keep the homeschool community feeling. Sibling, military and other special pricing available. Please email me with any questions. I prefer not to put my phone number on Craigslist but would be happy to visit anytime if needed. Students and families from all backgrounds are welcome. Inclusivity is vital to our philosophy. We are non-denominational and value each family’s own personal beliefs. Our mission is simply to grow the whole person, not just the mind. We want to encourage thinking and questioning, and solving problems in new and creative ways. To challenge the way the world works and seek to improve it where we can. To build sustainable thinking into everything we do while caring for the world and its citizens in a loving and kind way. We aim to create leaders and empower each child to be an advocate for people and causes important to them. To help them find their purpose. To learn resiliency while raising compassion levels. To incorporate balance in all areas and promote emotional and mental health and empower young minds to do the most good. If this sounds like your family or how you wish your child could be taught, I hope you reach out. Thanks for reading! Best wishes! Enrollment would be ongoing monthly starting potentially next month. CL makes me include a duration but this is for year round home schooling with longer, typical breaks and shorter summers.
