Where are the rock musicians?

I'm not even sure where to begin with this. I've lived in the area for 2 1/2 years now, and I can't seem to find where the working rock musicians are hiding. There must be some out there, but all I can seem to find are guys who don't have a passion for performance and are perfectly comfortable playing nothing but stale old standards that were already worn-out when I was a kid. Now feels like a great time to start a 90's focused band, something that plays stuff like Nirvana, STP, Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, and all of that. I'm all about 80's rock, but it sort of feels like that's becoming a bit passe. Is there anyone out there who wants to put on a show, play the songs correctly, and be something that people would be interested to go out and see? If so, please hit me up! I would be ok with starting something new, or joining up with someone in need of a guitarist or drummer. About me: I was very active in the music scene in western NY for the last 25 years, playing drums and guitar as well as doing sound and lights for other bands. Mostly classic rock/hard rock/metal (60's-2000's), absolutely no country. I have all pro equipment, transportation, no drug/alcohol/drama issues.
