Description

Kara is so excited to be returning to Portland, her "other" home, to be with the community she loves and to share, once again, the her work in sound therapy. Sound therapy is a relaxation modality that helps with stress, anxiety and that busy mind that we try so hard to quiet. Join Kara for an evening of rest, reprieve, tranquility and connection that will allow you to settle into the space between all that noise in your mind and your body. Using various instruments such as Tibetan singing bowls, crystal bowls, gongs and chimes, Kara will fill the space with sound, allowing you to move into a state of deep relaxation. The use of sound and vibration in this way, our brainwaves are able to transition from beta (our awake, troubleshooting brainwaves) to alpha and theta (lucid dreaming). This movement of brainwaves relaxes the nervous system and invites you to settle into a deep meditative state, allowing your body to rest, recover, and restore. This is a wonderful opportunity to reset your mind and body and Kara is honored to share this time and space with you! Attendees are asked to bring their own props though there are props available at Yoga Refuge and are free to use. At a minimum, it is suggested to bring a yoga mat and two blankets. It is also encouraged to bringing a pillow, knee support, an eye pillow and warm layers, including socks. Anything and everything you need to relax. Comfort is most important. You can choose to lay on the floor or be seated, then you may close your eyes and let the sounds carry you to where you need to go. Investment: $45 (does not include the Evenbrite fee) ***No Refunds as space is limited Wondering who I am? About Kara: A seeker by nature, I laughed when sound therapy found me (and not vice versa) shortly after returning to my home state of Michigan after nearly 20 years away in Portland, Oregon. Universe, you are hilarious. A retreat and circle facilitator, writer and mom of plenty (okay, four), I began my studies in 2019 under Julie Chase of Wind Willow Sound Health, completed my year of studies and have earned my 200 practice hours of sound therapy. I incorporates tuning forks, Tibetan singing bowls and crystal bowls to bring the body into a deep state of relaxation, allowing the body to rest, recover and heal. I offer both individual sessions and group sessions and loves sharing this experience with others in my studio in Kalamazoo, Michigan, my quarterly visits to Portland, Oregon and at retreats in the US and Mexico.
