Just before the end of the 17th century, brilliant Florentine instrument maker Bartolomeo Cristofori began developing a key-and-hammer action to make playing the harpsichord more expressive. Stunning modern replicas of Cristofori's three surviving Baroque pianos have recently been startling, amazing, and charming performers and music lovers. Stylish, deeply expressive pianist Artem Belogurov returns to La Grua to play the North American début of one of the finest of these copies. In its recent tours across Western Europe, "the Red Cristofori" has left listeners with a powerful impression of the color and subtlety of this, the very first piano. Join us in La Grua's lively, supportive acoustic to experience this sorcery with your own ears.
A fine way to celebrate the long-awaited arrival of La Primavera in New England!
Artem Belogurov's Baroque piano recital will last about 60' and runs without an intermission.
