Come enjoy our masterful professional award winning cast of performers as they dress the part and perform those amazing scenes and songs from legendary Black theatre and movies. Songs that make you happy, make you laugh and make you cry that you know and love. Songs include "Home" and "Believe In Yourself" from the Wiz; plus a soul stirring super performance of "And I'm Telling You" from Dream Girls that will get you jumping out of your seat to stand and clap. The song "Here I Stand" will have you standing when a young Black girl tells her story to her parents. Enjoy a brilliant performance of "Stormy Weather" by the great Lena Horne; and then get ready for Effie singing "I''m Changing'' from the Dream Girls with power and emotion. Lady Sings The Blues will be there singing "Good Morning Heartache," and The Show will feature a very special tribute to Irene Cara with a memorable performance of " Out Here On My Own" from Fame. Get ready to dance, stand and shout as our dance troupe will make the show lively with tap dancers and more. In honor of the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, this exciting musical will also feature a special Mahaila Jackson tribute performance of "Precious Lord," which is Dr. King's favorite song so we will never forget our leader. As a grand finale we are all going to celebrate by dancing in the aisles as we finish with "Ease On Down The Road," from the Wiz. Our narrators will help set the scene to take you on a musical journey through Black theatre and film that you remember with performances you will never forget. All of this is taking place on The Holiday, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday Monday January 16, 2023 inside the Guild Theater, located at 2838 35th Street in Oak Park in Sacramento for a special MLK holiday matinee show at 3pm. Tickets are only $25 person. Front three rows seats with autographed posters and pictures with the "Dream Girls" are just $35.
