Scott Pemberton has extensive history here at the Crazy Horse going back many years. We’ve been hearing mad buzz about his latest project – O Theory - and it’s about freaking time they made their way to Nevada City. One thing is clear when you hear SPOT. This is something new. Pemberton isn’t content unless he’s breaking ground and that is certainly the case here. Rooted in the familiar yet utterly unique, this nimble power trio creates its own paradigm of progressive roots music.
Your ears will be doing backflips while digesting this daring blend of deep jazz, blues, rock, grunge, funk and psychedelia; often during the same song! Driven by Pemberton’s wildly unorthodox approach to the guitar, improvisation and songwriting, every show is an entirely fresh experience. What do we mean by “wildly unorthodox?” Going strapless, laid flat on a stool, performing voodoo sorcery on his six-string accomplice. The pure joy of making music and blazing new trails is the hallmark of this band as their profile continues to rise from coast to coast.
