Want to be a scientist? Join us for our Citizen Science Sundays for Kids! Middle School-aged kids (accompanied by an adult) will be able to learn in depth about our local ecosystem here at Hogtown Creek Headwaters Nature Park! We have amazing wildlife and rare and beautiful plants right here in our beautiful state of Florida! But a major threat to much of our nature are the invasive species who have found their way into Florida and been incredibly successful in spreading further! Join us for our Citizen Science Sunday for Kids as we learn about the invasives in our neighborhood and within the state, discover ways scientists have tried to eradicate invasive species, and practice techniques in analyzing an area for invasive species used by scientists in the field! End the day with a fun invasive species-themed activity! Registration is required for all children and guardians in attendance. Portions of this program are inside and outside. Comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, bug spray, water, and mask are recommended. Check-in and program will begin inside the Hogtown Creek Headwaters Nature Center. Arrive promptly at 10 am so you don’t miss out on the fun!
