As a great way to kick-off the new year, VAE is featuring ground-breaking works created by Southern QTBIPOC artists. “Vanguard Social: Visions of Southern Queer Resistance,” highlights the works of Southern QTBIPOC (Queer, Trans, Black, Indigenous People of Color) artists as a means of empowering and uplifting their lived experience. This exhibition places emphasis on the pivotal role of QTBIPOC creatives in the push for liberation, while also highlighting the need for solidarity throughout communities that are unequivocally marginalized by way of systemic oppression. Join us on Friday, January 13th for the opening reception.
Featuring artists: Amuri Morris, Charmaine Hurst, Essi Sings, Gemynii, Greta Boney, Karena "Kidd" Graves, Lars Massey-Guzman, Lindsey Shin, Liz Williams, Luc White, Sage Lowery, and Shin-Yiing Yeung.
This project is apart of VAE Raleigh's annual Collaborative Curatorial Fellowship; the Collaborative Curatorial Fellowship is sponsored by VAE Raleigh.
