Green Air, Inc. is a family-owned HVAC Mechanical Contractor based in Ashland, VA. We are currently hiring a skilled HVAC crew (full-time) for a new project in Newport News, VA. Skilled Apprentice hiring range: $18.00-$25.00/hour Skilled Mechanic hiring range: $25.00-$30.00/hour In order to be considered for an interview, please apply online at our careers portal: Job Summary Our Start-up Mechanics for our Construction department are an essential part of system installs on our commercial and residential projects; performs layout and install of required materials and equipment for HVAC systems. Our Start-up Mechanics also provide on-the-job training to helpers and apprentices for them to succeed in the HVAC trade. Duties and Responsibilities • Prepare job site(s) for installing piping, low voltage wiring, and starting up various types of equipment. • Install and Start-up HVACR equipment into various types of buildings, including residential homes, commercial businesses, and multi-story buildings. • Instruct apprentices on daily tasks and duties. • Take direction from Foreman on details of project(s). • Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor. • Ensure proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed according to company and state guidelines. • Read and interpret construction drawings for all trades. • Soldering, brazing, wiring and proper use of HVAC tools to complete the task within provided estimate. • Clean up work areas and account for all tools, equipment, and assets. • Document and maintain timecard through software application. Requirements • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and provide supporting documentation • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background and drug screen • Must have a valid Virginia driver's license • Must have a clean driving record and be insurable Qualifications Education/Certification: High School diploma or equivalent, HVAC Journeyman card, Universal CFC card, CPR, First Aid, Applicable safety certifications Required Knowledge: Knowledge of HVAC trade Experience Required: 2+ years of experience. Skill and Ability: Dependability and punctuality Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work in a team environment. Ability to use significant independent judgment. Ability to learn and utilize app-based software for construction tasks. Excellent time management skills Leadership skills Basic computer skills Working conditions • Ability to operate in an open work area with moderate everyday noise. • Ability to work closely with other trades and contractors. • Ability to withstand heat and cold temperatures. Physical requirements Occasionally required to stand and stoop, kneel, and crouch. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50lbs.
