Plein Air Painting Along the Canal

Through the On the Canals program, the Village of Brockport was able to purchase French half box easels, oil paints and supplies for plein air painting along the canal. This is a ticketed event with limited space per workshop for those age 15 and up. Workshops will be every Saturday in February 2023. All levels of artists are welcome. If you've ever wanted to experience what it's like to paint outdoors or are a seasoned artist seeking to hone your skills, this is a great opportunity. Meet at Hart Gallery27, 27 Market Street, Brockport, NY. Before you leave the gallery, you will learn how to set up an easel and how to pack it with your supplies and see a simple landscape paint demo. We will then go outside, along the canal, to set up and paint our own landscapes. Then back to the gallery to warm up, clean up, review our work, and see a slideshow on winter landscape painters. Dress warmly with good boots/socks. Don't wear florescent winter coats because they shine on the painting. Bring a warm drink, a snack, multiple pairs of gloves in case one gets paint on it or gets wet, and a tote bag/reusable grocery bag to take home your painting.
