Description

The Light Side of Portraiture: A Hands on Studio Portrait Class With Hernan Rodriguez Sponsored By Tamron and Westcott In portrait photography you have two options: You are either creating portraits without drawing any attention to the lighting, or you can use light to render evocative portraits, which create a mood or a narrative, as in the case of cinematic portraits. The personality of each subject you photograph can be captured by crafting mood and character, both through lighting and proper lens selection. This along with proper posing, will allow you to capture the most optimum angles, which can be flattering to your subjects. Whether you are using natural light, flash, or LED’s, Hernan will review principles that allow you to create mood, by the meticulous control of your lights. This is done by using specific lighting modifiers, and the proper placement of your lights. Through a live demonstration, Hernan will also share lighting fundamentals he applies to his work, which include: Shape, Quantity, Quality and Color of light. Hernan will share and review the principles he uses for his commercial and celebrity portraits, that can be instrumental for your portrait work, whether family, glamour, fashion, or any people photography. This also includes creating optimum angles and perspective of your subjects by choosing the proper lens, allowing you to create natural looking portraits.
