What is "Creative Placemaking? "In creative placemaking, partners from public, private, non-profit, and community sectors strategically shape the physical and social character of a neighborhood, town, city, or region around arts and cultural activities. Creative placemaking animates public and private spaces, rejuvenates structures and streetscapes, improves local business viability and public safety, and brings diverse people together to celebrate, inspire, and be inspired.” - Congress for the New Urbanism Event logistics:Friday, January 27, 2023 from 10:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.City of Lewes City Hall114 E Third St, Lewes, DE 19958Tentative Agenda10:30 a.m. - 11:45 a.m. - Presentations Welcome to Lewes! - Ann Marie Townshend, City Manager, City of LewesPreserving Lewes’ historic architecture - Janelle Cornwell, Planning Director, City of LewesPreserving and sharing Lewes’ cultural identity - Trina Brown-Hicks, Secretary, Lewes African-American Heritage CommissionHistoric Lewes Byway: Showcasing Lewes’ scenic, natural, historic, recreational, archaeological, and cultural assets - Mary Roth, Executive Director Delaware Greenways Building partnerships to integrate a wide range of quality art with public spaces - Heidi Lowe, Member, Lewes Public Arts Committee11:45 a.m. - 12:45 p.m. - Networking Lunch 12:45 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. - Walking Tour with: Andrew Williams, Mayor, City of LewesSue Sandmeyer, Art in Bloom co-chair and mural project managerRepresentatives from Lewes Railroad Junction & Bridge AssociationStudent TransportationVan transportation to/from the UD's Graham Hall Parking Lot to the City of Lewes is available, courtesy of UD's Institute for Public Administration.
