Join me, Carrie Ashley, for this immersive 1.25 hour "yin-yasa" yoga class. Winter is a time to turn inward, reflect and nurture the Yin aspects of ourselves. Yin-yasa yoga offers a deep, slow and meditative practice that promotes the health and well-being of the connective tissues in the body. It also restores our energetic center and encourages the flow of prana (breath, energy) throughout the body. This soothing, gentle practice focuses on moving slowly into poses while using the breath as a tool to remain present and mindful. The slow pace of this class allows you to enjoy the simple sweetness of each pose. Expect lots of stretching and lengthening with a heavy dose of relaxation to wrap up your practice and leave you feeling great!
The wintertime and cold temps tend to draw us into a place of stagnancy in the body. My hope is that these poses with gentle movement will help to open up the body in areas that don’t tend to get much TLC during these winter months. If you find the sensation is intense, breathe deeper. Our lungs also tend to get neglected this time of year, so use this time on your mat as an opportunity to return to the breath as well as a feeling of openness and ease in the body. Cozy up and get ready for some stretchy goodness. Everyone also will receive a pint of their choice from Full Fledged after class.
This class is great for anyone new to yoga and/or yin yoga but also a fantastic way for experienced participants to explore their practice much deeper.
