Boyz II Men Tickets
The imminently successful Boyz II Men band is known for their smooth four-part harmonies and unique doo-wop meets hip-hop sound. They were one of the most commercially successful R&B groups, and they have produced three No. 1 singles which are the longest running top songs of today. Boyz II Men's early music was infused with the sound of new jack swing, but quickly became even more hyper-technical ballads with soulful lyrics and harmonies. Boyz II Men continues to be recognized as the biggest boy band during the period of 1987 to 2012 as they were first designated as such by Billboard Magazine.
How the Boys Became Men
The group Boyz II Men had their beginnings in 1988 at Philadelphia's High School of the Creative and Performing Arts. Nathan Morris and Marc Nelson were the founding members, and Wanya Morris, Shawn Stockman and Michael McCary joined at that time. They called themselves Unique Attraction and developed a cover list of New Edition songs, one of which, Boyz II Men, was the inspiration of their future name. After impressing Bell Biv DeVoe member Michael Bivins backstage at a Bell Biv DeVoe concert, Bivins offered a management deal. Marc Nelson left the group before their first recording, and the group then became a quartet. They recorded their debut album, Cooleyhighharmony for the Motown Records label in 1991, and their single, Motownhilly, gained the Top Five pop and No. 1 R&B spots on the charts and achieved platinum status. Another single, It's So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday, also achieved Top Five pop and R&B spots and achieved gold status.
