"The Science of Roller Skating" : students will learn about the parts of the roller skate/inline skate and how each part functions to make the skate. They will discuss how surfaces in the rink are made of different materials and how that affects the skate in motion. Students will have a chance to showcase their creativity and design a new feature for a skate. Topics like: Geometry, Friction, Reverse Engineering, Design. Grades: Pre-K—High School.
Cost:
$12/student attending STEM and skate (skate rental and wheeled skate walkers included— personal skates are okay)
$8/parent and younger siblings attending skate only
FREE for non-skaters
Schedule:
9:00a: "The Science of Roller Skating" presentation
10:00 a.m.: skate for all ages
11:30 a.m.: sack lunch or concession stand (will be open during event)
