Join Shannon Sharpe and Noah Schleifer for a fun and informative workshop on sustainable mycology at Overalls Farm in Springfield, Jacksonville, FL. Shannon, a graduate student of ecology and evolutionary science, will introduce the basics of fungal biology, identification, and foraging techniques, and will lead a tutorial on how to make a spore print and petri-dish clone. Noah, the owner of Harmony Mushroom Co., will show participants various ways to grow their own gourmet mushrooms and how to incorporate the symbiosis of fungi and plants into their gardens. The workshop will include a hands-on activity where attendees will learn how to convert buckets into reusable mushroom cultivation chambers (which you’ll take home). In addition, Shannon and Noah - in collaboration with Nathan, Man in Overalls, will discuss the benefits of composting and how team Overalls worked fungi into the farm ecosystem. This workshop is suitable for all skill levels and is a great opportunity for attendees to learn about and experience the wonders of fungi.
