$20 an hour for a farmhand in a beautiful outdoor environment. Simple yet varied workload. Excellent job for someone who loves being outside, working physical jobs, and spending much time working alone. Possible Jobs Setting up and cleaning up/organizing after daily chores Gardening (compost hauling, bed shaping, planting, weeding, mulching, harvesting etc.) Farm sitting on the farm for a few days and up to two weeks several times a year. Chainsawing firewood Splitting, stacking, and hauling firewood Driving a tractor and its implements Driving on errands, sometimes to pick up heavy things. Wood chipping Driving long distances, sometimes to transport heavy things and/or livestock. Picking up around the farm. Organizing around the farm. Shoveling/digging Pitch forking manure, deep bedding (wood chips), or hay Mowing String trimming Landscaping Yard Maintenance/cleaning Planting trees Tending trees Installing fence Basic construction (building and repairing) Assist in on-farm butchering (poultry, pigs, lamb, and cows) Setting up for Butcherings Tearing down for Butcherings Assist in on-farm events (workshops and tours) Install, repair waterlines NOTE: We eat our animals. Yes, we treat them amazingly with regular moves and/or deep bedding but in the end, they are here to feed us. We harvest them ourselves to minimize their stress.
