The session will take a look at the local impact of excessive alcohol use in Rock County and provide information and resources elected officials need to evaluate local licensing policy. Wisconsin municipalities license alcohol sales and are responsible for enforcing state and local alcohol laws. As a result, local elected officials in Wisconsin have more control over alcohol licensing than local elected officials in other states. This session provides a framework for understanding the scope of municipal alcohol authority, how it can support economic development and public safety as well as respond to local concerns
