Leonard Cohen tribute forming

Description

Greetings, everyone. I'm exploring the idea of forming a Leonard Cohen tribute group. I've been listening to his music since the late 1960's, and got newly inspired after seeing the wonderful documentary about his life and career "Hallelujah: Leonard Cohen, a Journey, a Song". Why do this? While many are deeply moved, influenced, comforted, inspired by his music, there seem to be few "tribute acts" based on it. I was able to locate one in Birmingham, Alabama that claims to be "the only Leonard Cohen cover band in the U.S.A.". They very well could be. Nor is it covered very much by singers or groups - yet people *need* to hear this music, it has so much to give. About me: Singer, guitarist, keyboardist, experienced performer (male, older). My ambitions for the group: - At least one more guitar and/or keyboardist - One more melody instrument after that: Could be a string or wind instrument - Bassist - Drummer and/or hand percussionist - ideally someone who can do both - The female chorus: This was such an essential part of his presentation. He always had two or three female singers who *only* sang, but in this case it would be fine to multi-task as instrumentalists/singers (OR non-instrumental singers, either way) My tentative name for the group is "Bird on a Wire" - but open to suggestions. Leonard toured the world with a large entourage of world-class musicians - but it wouldn't require that to bring back something of what he gave his audiences: His transcendent music, the work of a poet who deeply felt both the pain and majesty of the human journey and left each person more awakened to their own soul's radiance. Does this sound like you? Send me a message!
